On May 18–19, changemakers from around the world gathered online to share bold ideas and real-world solutions for a just, sustainable future. The two-day event brought together educators, city officials, researchers, youth organisations, and corporate leaders — all exploring how Earth4All concepts were being put into practice.
We were proud to take part in Day 1 with our session: 🏙️ “How are cities and communities reimagining development within planetary limits?”
From Budapest’s Degrowth Doughnut to grassroots urban transition initiatives, we shared practical frameworks that placed wellbeing and ecological balance at the heart of local decision-making.
The session drew directly on work we are carrying out through DAISY — a research project exploring how systemic interventions can drive change for biodiversity and equity. In Budapest, DAISY has supported the Degrowth Doughnut by assessing biodiversity indicators, delivering a 20–25-year cost–benefit analysis of the intervention portfolio, and integrating findings into local development strategies — from public transport to climate planning. This work has been grounded in ongoing collaboration with local actors to monitor implementation and feed lessons back into broader policy recommendations.
We were grateful to contribute to the conversation and to exchange ideas with so many inspiring participants working toward regenerative and equitable futures.
