GreenFormation signed a cooperation agreement with the Municipality of Budapest to enhance their joint efforts in biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, and mitigation. Budapest joined the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, aiming for cities to become carbon-neutral by 2030 showing leading examples to other settlements to follow by 2050. For this, Mission cities plan and bind themselves to their Climate City Contracts, which guide them in delivering their climate-neutral goal. The Contracts are based on the cooperation of municipalities and their partners. Therefore the cooperating actors of the metropolitan ecosystem support the efforts of the Municipality of Budapest and record their own commitments with their signatures. Within the agreement GreenFormation will cooperate with the City of Budapest to deliver climate protection activities, the implementation of the Green Budapest program, joint attitude formation campaigns, and advocacy. Furthermore, the cooperating entities will organise events and hold discussions to monitor and validate the implementation of the newly developed Budapest degrowth doughnut and channel the results of these negotiations into the DAISY Horizon project aiming to understand how interventions and their mixes can drive systemic change and transformation, offering concrete policy recommendations.
