As the Co-Bio project draws to a close, we reflect on the diversity and creativity of the local case studies that took place across six European countries. From micro-forests in Portugal and biodiversity gardens in Italy, to urban campus greening in Austria, schoolyard and park transformations in Greece, biodiversity boxes in Denmark, and neighbourhood-scale co-creation in Hungary—the initiatives demonstrated a wide range of community-led actions to support biodiversity in cities.
These local interventions demonstrate how co-creation, citizen engagement and cross-sectoral collaboration can deliver meaningful, context-specific solutions for nature in urban areas. Each case brought forward different approaches, challenges and lessons learned, contributing to the final outputs of the project.
