EMES is a research network of university research centers and individual researchers on social enterprise. One of our running Horizon project, EMCCINNO, was featured at the 10th EMES International Research Conference, where the impact of culture and social enterprise on Europe’s climate transition was brought into focus. For three years long, EMCCINNO works to empower cultural and creative organisations by helping them test and adopt new, sustainable business models that respond to ecolocial and social challenges. With partners across five EU countries, the project now turns into its implementation phase: after planning, it develops and evaluates prototypes rooted in artistic innovation, ecological goals, and community engagement. Forthermore, by building a Europe-wide Community of Practice, EMCCINNO connects creative organisations, policymakers, and experts to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and promote practical climate strategies. Its research, training, and policy recommendations are vital for the needed transformation, as well as strengthening the climate resilience and leadership of the cultural sector throughout Europe.
